WE OFFER A VARIETY OF DRIVING LESSONS AND DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSES

Once you have passed your road code theory test and have your Learner Licence, have some lessons with Drive Yourself Driving School, it is the ideal place to come to help you take the next steps and put all the theory into practice on the road.
You will be guided professionally through each step which will give you the skills, experience and confidence to become a safe driver so that driving won’t be quite so daunting once you start driving on your own. You need at least six months driving experience before you will be able to sit your restricted licence test, so learn the basics at the start and the good habits will remain with you.
If you have done some driving and just want some tips and guidance on passing your Restricted Licence test, you can use your own car or the driver training car.

You’ve done lots of driving practice and think you are now ready to sit your Restricted Licence test – why not have a ‘practice’ test before the actual test…you can’t fail this one, and I’ll give you lots of tips to help you pass the test the first time.

If you are now ready to sit your Full Licence test – have a lesson to make sure you haven’t got any bad habits while on your Restricted licence. You will also learn which hazards you need to mention during your test and be given a few simple words that will help you describe the actions you are taking in response to the hazards.

Do you have an overseas licence and want to know what to do to convert it to a New Zealand licence – have a lesson and be confident you’ll know what to do when you sit your test.

If you have lost your confidence while driving, or just want a refresher to help you with the new rules – have a few driving lessons with a professional driving instructor.

This will take six months off your Restricted Licence (or three months if you are 25 or over)
The course consists of Four – two-hour classroom sessions which will cover Understanding the Driving Environment; Your Personal Driving Style; Searching and Assessing the Driving Environment and Managing the Driving Risk. A one on one driving/coaching lesson in your car at the completion of the classroom sessions will help you put into practice what you have learned during the course and prepare you for your driving test.
There is an added bonus – you will be a much more aware, confident and knowledgeable driver at the end of the course.
Courses are held in Palmerston North every month. Karen will advise the dates for courses once you have registered. Courses can be held in other locations by arrangement. The minimum number of people required for a course to be held is six people.
Defensive Driving for Experienced Drivers course
This is a 3 ½ hour course designed for experienced drivers who have their full licence. We all need to be reminded from time to time that all road users are vulnerable and people make mistakes. The course will give you information to help you reduce risks and make good driving decisions.
The course covers The New Zealand Driving Environment and Managing the Driving Risk. You will learn a safe system approach to driving, the main factors contributing to crashes, what’s my driving like, identifying crash risk and awareness and how Fatigue, drugs, alcohol, medication and stress can affect your driving, as well as lots of other driving related topics.
The Defensive Driving for Experienced Drivers course is “By arrangement only”

My Car. Your Car.
You can use my Driver Training car and learn to drive in an automatic – it is a Suzuki Swift with dual controls.
